Flu Shots

Influenza, or "the flu", is a potentially serious disease that can lead to hospitalization (or worse). Every flu season is different, but millions of people will get the flu every year, and hundreds of thousands will require hospital visits for it. An annual seasonal flu vaccine is the best way to help protect against the flu. Vaccination has been shown to reduce the risk of flu illnesses, hospitalizations, and even flu-related death.
Flu vaccines cause antibodies to develop in the body about two weeks after vaccination. These antibodies provide protection from the influenza strains included in the vaccine. At Dauphin Medical Clinic, we offer a quadrivalent vaccine, which protects against 4 strains of influenza. Traditionally, vaccines are available in the fall; however, the exact time varies on a year-to-year basis based on supply.
